Who are we?

Te Awe - Wellington Māori Business Network

Established in 1996, Te Awe has been a proud driving force behind Māori business connections in Te Whanganui-a-Tara and beyond. We embrace inclusivity, welcoming individuals, businesses, and organisations who are committed to supporting and uplifting Māori entrepreneurs.

Guided by a dedicated volunteer committee, Te Awe operates as a registered Incorporated Society and nurtures a vibrant, diverse network—from innovative startups to well-established corporates—all connected by a shared passion for Māori business excellence.

To further enrich our whānau, we offer Associate Memberships for non-Māori who align with our kaupapa and are keen to engage, support, and grow with our community.

Our membership spans whānau-owned start-ups to major corporates, highlighting our commitment to championing the full breadth of Māori business innovation and enterprise.

The Mission

At the heart of Te Awe is one mission: championing Māori entrepreneurship.

At Te Awe, we create space for connection that goes deeper than handshakes and business cards. Our regular networking hui are all about kōrero tuku iho — where stories are shared, challenges are faced (āna!), wins are celebrated, and real collaboration is sparked.

These gatherings are where ideas grow, rangapū (partnerships) are born, and the strength of our Māori business ecosystem is nurtured through whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, and a whole lot of mahi tahi.
