Terms of Service – Membership

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) set out the agreement between Te Awe Māori Business Network (“Te Awe”, “we”, “our”, “us”) and each person or business who applies for, renews, or holds a membership with us (“member”, “you”, “your”). By becoming a member, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

 

1. Membership Eligibility

  • Membership is open to individuals, sole traders, and businesses that support and align with the kaupapa of Te Awe.

  • We reserve the right to approve or decline membership applications at our discretion.

  • Membership applications must be board approved, and a refund will be provided should the application be declined.

2. Membership Fees & Renewal

  • Membership fees are set out on our website: www.teawe.maori.nz/memberships.

  • Fees must be paid in full at the time of joining or renewing.

  • Membership is valid for 12 months from the date of approval/payment unless otherwise stated.

  • Memberships will not be activated or renewed until payment is received.

  • Fees are non-refundable, except as required by law.

3. Membership Benefits

As a member you may receive (depending on your membership type):

  • Networking opportunities, events, and workshops.

  • Business promotion via Te Awe channels.

  • Access to member-only resources and communications.

  • Voting rights at Te Awe Annual General Meetings (where applicable).

Benefits may vary depending on membership type and may change from time to time.

 

4. Member Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and up-to-date personal or business information.

  • Conduct yourself respectfully and in line with the kaupapa of Te Awe when engaging in events or activities.

  • Not use Te Awe membership, branding, or member directories for unlawful, misleading, or harmful purposes.

 

5. Our Rights

  • We may change membership fees, benefits, or structures with reasonable notice.

  • We may suspend or cancel membership if fees are unpaid or if a member breaches these Terms or brings Te Awe into disrepute.

 

6. Events & Services

  • Separate terms may apply to particular events, workshops, or services.

  • Te Awe is not responsible for travel costs or other expenses incurred by members in attending events.

 

7. Intellectual Property

  • All content, branding, and materials provided by Te Awe remain our property unless otherwise stated.

  • Members may not reproduce or distribute our materials without permission.

 

8. Privacy

Your personal and business information will be collected, used, and stored in accordance with our Privacy Policy, available at www.teawe.maori.nz.

 

9. Limitation of Liability

  • To the maximum extent permitted by law, Te Awe is not liable for any loss, damage, or expenses incurred by members in connection with membership, except where required by the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or other applicable law.

 

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version will always be available on our website.

 

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
